I don't think Yellow Media is going down. They are an invisible local advertising behemoth with 1.5 million business listings that are ready to be plucked like so much ripe fruit hanging from a tree.

Take a look at their smartphone apps for Iphone, Blackberry and Android. Most people in Canada with a smart phone now use this free app. The Ipad app is amazing. With one touch you can get all the local advertising that you could want.

Nice going Yellow Pages. You have become one of mytop apps on my iphone and ipad. Cheers!

Interesting article. The major yellow pages publisher in Canada appears to have missed the mark by concentrating more on the financial extraction of cash from the established business. A huge opportunity to invest in its experienced workforce has been ignored and it appears that short term 'yield' has taken precedence. Consequently the customer experience and value has dropped dramatically with the, some say obvious, lack of priority of the advertiser.

Very nice article. As a YP insider I have come to appreciate the value of the brand and the trust people put in it. We are now involved in all sorts of internet plays. One of the most exciting is SEO and SEM. I have already sold many Google Adword deals to SMB's in my area. It is just a matter of time before the floodgates open and we get all of our advertisers to do SEM. From where I sit, we have an amazing opportunity to sit in front of thousands of SMB's to share this amazing way of advertising. The good news is that they trust us. The next level of all this is SEO. My understanding is that we are lauching this product in the next couple of months. I don't think people can dismiss the YP yet. I really think we will evolve into something that will be very good for the advertiser and the end user. Stay tuned.
